For laser cutting rapid prototyping use, we maintain stocks of high purity medical grade Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA), Polycarbonate (PC), Poly ethylene terephthalate (PET), and Cyclic Olefin polymers (COP or COC) including Zeonor 1420 R. We can rapidly obtain other materials of choice through our suppliers. We have extensive experience working with pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) from Adhesives Research and 3M for bioassay applications. We have both acrylic and silicone based PSAs of various thickness with different bonding strength, carrier material, and surface properties in stock for your application needs.
Wainamics helps you in selecting the materials for your application. Factors to consider include:
Optical Transmittance and Autofluorescence Properties
For applications requiring fluorescence detection, various high quality optical property materials are available.
Solvent Compatibility
When non-aqueous solutions are used, chemical compatibility of solvents with polymers is critical. Compatibility of some plastics with commonly used organic solvents are listed here:
Methanol/Ethanol/IPA Excellent Fair (IPA) Fair Fair
Acetone/MEK Excellent Not Compatible Not Compatible Not Compatible
DMSO Excellent Fair at Low Temp Fair at Low Temp Fair at Low Temp
Other Factors to Consider
  • Surface modification needs
  • Cost and manufacturability
  • Temperature requirements
  • Mechanical requirements
  • Sterilization methods
  • Moisture Vapor transmission rate
  • Plastic purity and trace metal content
